Common Questions

Provider FAQ

Everything you need to know about becoming a sponsored provider with Inclusive Children Care.

As a sponsored provider, you open your home to support a child with intellectual, developmental, or mental health needs in a safe, family-style environment. You provide daily care, supervision, and encouragement — helping children live meaningful, community-connected lives. Inclusive Children Care serves as your sponsoring agency, offering oversight and ongoing support so you can focus on what matters most: the child.
Anyone with a stable, supportive home and a genuine passion for helping children may be eligible. Providers must pass background and safety clearances, complete required training, and demonstrate a commitment to person-centered care, dignity, and respect.
You are never alone. Inclusive Children Care provides an initial 2-week in-person training, ongoing training throughout your time as a provider, help with documentation and policies, regular home visits, compliance support, and 24/7 on-call assistance. Our team is always a phone call away.
Requirements include completing an application, passing background and safety clearances, completing required training (CPR, first aid, medication management, and more), and maintaining a home that meets safety and space standards. Your home must have at least two entrances/exits. Additional requirements may apply based on the needs of the child placed in your care.
The timeline varies depending on how quickly your application, clearances, and home requirements are completed. In most cases it takes several weeks. Our team works closely with applicants to keep things moving as smoothly and quickly as possible.
Yes — you can maintain outside employment while being a sponsored provider. However, the needs of the child always come first. You must be available in emergencies and keep up with medical and specialty appointments. Day support programs may be available to assist the child during your working hours. We'll work with you and the child's case manager to build the best plan.
Sponsored providers are 24/7 caregivers, but we understand everyone needs a break. You are required to have a designated backup provider who can step in for emergencies, vacations, or personal time. Your backup must also pass a background check. We will train up to four backup providers at no cost to you. Backup compensation is agreed upon directly between you and your backup.
Sponsored providers are paid as 1099 independent contractors, with payments disbursed twice monthly. Pay rates vary based on the individual needs of the child in your care. A 90-day reserve budget is required to cover any gaps due to delayed placements or other circumstances.
